Pelecanoides Urinatrix

The common diving-petrel is black about the head, except for the ears, neck and throat, which are grey. These birds breed in coastal colonies on oceanic islands from the Falklands by way of Indian Ocean to southern New Zealand. The breeding season varies between August and September - only one egg is laid in a burrow. Incubation takes 53-55 days and fledging takes 45-59 days.
