Narrow-Billed Prion

Pachyptila Belcheri

Other names: Slender-billed prion, Thin-billed prion.

The Narrow-billed prion has a blue-grey body - typical of all prions. Unlike most prions, however, there is a small black spot on the end of its tail. The birds feed mainly at night-time on small crustaceans. Using their thin bill, they also manage to catch krill and small fish. Narrow-billed prions are commen on the Falkland Islands, but they also breed on some islands off southern Chile, Iles Crozet and Kerguelen, Macquarie Island and South Georgia.
