Pagodroma Nivea

The snow petrel has a white body, with coal-black eyes and a short black bill. It is highly manoevrable with a bat-like flight, and feed mainly on small fish and carrion. These birds never stray far away from their home base, therefore they are especially common in the Ross Sea. Once they return to the nest sites in November, one egg is incubated for 41-49 days and the chicks flegde in 41-54 days. Skuas are their main predators, but bad weather may also kill them. The snow petrel has a lifespan of 14-20 years.

Other interesting info:
Snow Petrels throw up on their intruders to protect their nests and the mixture vomited up a special orange oil, which stinks of fish and extremely difficult to remove. (Contributed by Ophelia Ho)
