Chinese Expedition ends

by Kris Molle last modified 2008-03-14 14:41

The 24th Chinese Antarctic Expedition has come to an end. More than a hundred researchers were picked up from Zhongshan Station by China’s Antarctic icebreaker "The Snow Dragon" and are heading home.

The journey will end when they arrive in Shanghai on April 15th.  The team had started the exspedition on November 12th, 2007 and has completed a record 37 scientific studies and 10 logistic programmes.  During their stay in Antarctica, they had to battle storms and bad weather.

It was also the longest Antarctic journey for the Snow Dragon and it carried its heaviest load to date.
